Do you have a bully breed?

I've never heard of the term. We do crate train all our dogs and it did come in handy when our current dogs didn't get along well. Most of the time, though, we kept them separated on different floors of the house when they needed a break from each other.

I had to crate and rotate my pug and my American bulldog. Really one had the whole “dog room” and/or his kennel while the other was in the front of the house because the pug had no idea that he couldn’t cash the checks his mouth kept writing and it got to the point I was trying to deal with them and a newborn. Eventually the bulldog had to get rehomed. Not just because of the pug but because he couldn’t be careful with kids so it wasn’t an option. It was rough trying to keep things under control though. Stressful for everyone and no way for my big dumb boy to live.
Yeah I imagine it would be very hard

Sounds like you did it a little bit then. I would never want to do it full time personally LOL

Oh and it’s basically where one dog is out and the other is crated (or put in a dog room or certain part of the house or whatever) and then they switch occasionally so they both get time with you and exercise and training, etc. but then go back to the crate or their area when done. OR you just have them in like separate parts of the house and they stay there permanently. But obviously with this they get exercise and training too. And you let them out separately usually unless they get along some I guess.

Yeah, I guess we did. No, that would have been a nightmare if we could never have our dogs together.

At first when they got into a fight I would crate one or both of them immediately. But I switched to making them stay close to each other and letting them sniff each other after a fight. I think it worked to show them that neither one actually meant harm. I did this recently, in fact. Dorie ran into Luna while chasing a ball which made Luna growl which made Dorie snap back. I told them to stop (not before getting bitten myself ) and let them sniff each others' noses and that was it and both went back to playing.

Yeah, I like my sanity and peace LOL and like dogs to be friends so having to do it permanently would be a no go unless maybe I was REALLY attached to them LOL

And that’s good!!!!!!!! Sometimes I think letting them work through it and work it out can be best but other times, depending on the dogs and owners, it can be dangerous. A lot of people seem to say just “let them work it out” but some dogs will fight to the death or at least serious injury so that doesn’t always work LOL but I am glad you know your dogs and it is working for you.

Yes, when dogs don't get along, it is not something that can be resolved overnight. It took an entire year to learn what triggers my dogs, what their intent is, and how to prevent injury. That year was one of the most stressful of my life!
