Bumble foot got worse

Do not wrap her foot anymore. That is probably what caused the circulation problem. Many chickens lose toes or a foot from frostbite in freezing weather. They will auto amputate. I like to recommend iodine or a daily soak, just to keep the tissue clean. Once the toes come off, she will start healing. Keep us posted on her recovery.

This is today’s picture after her salt bath. I am still unsure whether the infection is looking better or worse.

If you have any type of left over antibiotics for a human or another pet post what you have and others can help you with dosage and type to use. But let’s ask @Eggcessive is an antibiotic appropriate here?

She will lose the toes or anything that looks black and leathery. It is hard to get antibiotics without a vet in a short time. Keeping the foot clean and applying Betadine or Vetericyn should be enough. Some antibiotics can be found online for pigeons, but shipping takes 5-7 days. Many chickens get along fine with only a stump, so I would keep doing what you are doing. Saline baths or a little Betadine in the water really are good. We see a lot of frostbite on here in winter freezing weather, and most survive. Her toes will come off in a month or so. This thread below has some very graphic pictures of how a hen lost toes, and it progresses over time. Hopefully this will convince you that your hen has a good chance:

Thank you all so much for helping me out, thanks to your tips I was at least able to save another hen who also got it. Since I don’t have the ability to go to a vet it was decided to put her down because the infection had spread upwards into her body. Again, thank you all for helping me so much.
