Bumble foot got worse

Here is a picture of after the salt bath, I put the triple antibiotic on her leg and then put her in her own spot. I think she might have already lost two fingers :(
Does anyone think she will make it? Do I have to put her down? I am so worried about her 😭. Please tell me what course of action is best for her.

Aw I’m so sorry about her foot.
How is she acting? Is she eating and drinking okay? She might just be in danger of losing digits or the foot itself. Do you have access to vet care if she seems lethargic?

Many chickens go on to lead somewhat normal lives with only missing toes and even a missing foot. Some may need extra help or things such as low roosts or a comfy nest on the floor and a vigilant owner to make sure they’re not getting pecked on. Im not experienced in limbs amputating themselves, but I feel like I see some tissue there that could be alive and okay still and she wouldn’t be dropping a whole foot. I hope someone with more experience can chime in. Keep treating it as best as you can and time will tell what is salvageable. It will look worse before it is better, I’m sure.

In the event that she were to lose a whole foot, do you have time to dedicate to a handicapped chicken? I think that’s something to consider if you were to think about euthanization.

She is eating and drinking fine, but she is very lethargic lately. I might have to put her down if she doesn’t get better. I will keep updating this page with pictures after her salt bath to see if anyone can tell me what’s best for her.

I understand. Hopefully she is able to overcome the infection and any necrotic tissue falls away. Do the best you can with the situation you are in. But keep in mind bumblefoot can take weeks to months to fully heal, especially in complicated cases. Are you applying the ointment after the soaks?

Yes I am applying triple antibiotic on the foot after the soak. Here is how the foot looked today after soaking her with salt water for 15 minutes. Does it look like it’s getting worse? I don’t know why she got this bad, her other foot recovered perfectly fine and another chicken who got it too recovered after two days.

I agree the toes may be dead. This results in self amputation in a month or so. Soaking the foot daily in warm water may help. I would put a little Epsom salts, Betadine, or chlorhexidene in the water. Betadine 10% can be good to spray on the toes until the toes fall off. You can get it at Walmart in the first aid aisle under the name Equate First Aid Solution for under $10. Triple antibiotic ointment is the same as Neosporin ointment.

Is there any probability that she might die from this anyways even if I keep going with these steps?

i would give her a probiotic to help the rest of her stay healthy and fight any potential infection from the inside as well especially with her toes probably falling of.
