Bumblefoot, big time

These hens have no idea what roosting is, so far. I've put in nesting boxes, and they sleep in them. It wasn't easy to get them to go there at night, they didn't seem to realize the light was going to "go away" after dusk. I had to go around and pick them up where ever they happened to be when it got too dark to see. After a few nights, they went to the boxes, and stayed there, by themselves.
 
Factory egg layers have no idea how to survive in the backyard situation. Looks like you'll have to show them how! Don't worry. Once you get them healthy, instinct will take over and they'll start acting like chickens.
