Bumblefoot Help

One of my girls has a bubble on her foot. I assume it's bumblefoot. I soaked her feet in warm Epsom salt water to see if there is a sore. I can not find any source that can be debrisded. What do I do next?

Is she limping? There are many ways to treat bumblefoot. Soaking in warm Epsom salts is a good beginning. Some do daily soaks, some go ahead and do minor surgery to get the plug of pus out, some use sugardine with a dressing for some days, some remove the scab and try to squeeze out a plug after days of soaking, while others use TriCide Neo. I have done surgery, but don’t do it anymore. I would soak, try to get the pus out from under a scab. The sugardine (Betadine and sugar dressing,) changed every day or two is a good one, and eventually, the scab can be removed and pus plug may be squeezed out. You can Google most those methods and get details.

In the Chickenchick link above that Wyorp Rock listed, there is a bumblefoot picture of a lesion on top of the foot between the toes as yours in. I have dealt with that. Mine also had a black scab on the bottom. I lanced both and squeezed out some pus, and the dressing with antibiotic ointment.

I use Durasole. Apply a drop or two on the area once a day for three days then reevaluate. Wear gloves.

@theoldchick Does the Durasole help to prevent bumble foot by toughening the skin of the foot pad, or do you use it after treating bumbles? I had not ever seen that product before.
