I have a chicken with a very swollen foot and she has Bumblefoot. I have done Bumblefoot surgery in the past (not on this particular bird) and am comfortable doing it for this bird. My question is specific to this chicken; as I said her foot is very swollen with a definite limp, but the black scab on the underside of her foot is relatively tiny. It is making me wonder if the size of the scab is comparable to how bad the infection is. Worded another way, since her foot is so swollen and the scab is so small is it likely that there is something else wrong with her foot? Or can the scab be small and the infection still significant?
Anyone have any experience that could help answer my question? Thanks!
