Hi all, just wondering if anyone could tell me what these bumps and lines are and if they're a deficiency of some sort. Hen is a Rhode Island Red, possibly a RIR mix. The bumps just started yesterday, the lines have been on them a while now

Is your hen and older? Sometimes this happens in older hens. The lines in the egg or usually caused by bodychecking sometimes the hands body tries to repair the egg if somethings wrong with that egg… The pimples are assigned also of an older hen... or sometimes they could be having calcium issues… Sometimes if they don't have enough water… Usually happens in the winter when the water freezes and production slows… It usually is in a cause for concern… Unless you're selling your eggs… Then some people might want not want to buy them

@Haihai no she's only about a year or so. They free range and I don't know how often she comes back to drink (it's my mother in laws hen)

It might be a water thing then… I have water feeders all over my yard ( we have 4acres) mine are too busy to come back to the coop and drink... so I just set them through the yard... I wouldn't really worry about it. If she is acting fine otherwise

I'm not sure where to ask this question, please excuse me if this isn't all right.
I have a 1-1/2 year old hen laying eggs, now and then, with what looks like bits of a foreign
substance in the whites. Dark pieces of something. This began recently. I have no roosters. The hens free range. The other hens aren't
laying eggs like this. I'm pretty sure it's the barred rock. The shells look normal and a lovely medium brown color. Yolk, is fine. I treat for worms and such, just thought I'd throw that in here. Any ideas?
Thank you so much for any replies. Diana

@braxas Is she a new layer? Sometimes it's just an error in the way there system works, usually caused by a ruptured blood vessel during egg formation. I wouldn't worry to much about it.

I would definitely think it's a water thing.... probably to busy chasing bugs than to think about how her eggs need a little more water lol just my thoughts :)
