I did a search, sorry didn't find any good posts. I have read about slipped air sacs and how they can stabilize if left upright overnight i think (is that true?). I received my first batch of shipped eggs. They were bubble wrapped individually and everything. but when i candled them i see that a fair amount have burst air sacks. by that i mean a random air bubble floating around, sometimes breaks into 2 air bubbles). there are a couple others with detached(?) air sacs (meaning that they are all together but rolling around under the skin like how Mercury moves). Is there a way to fix this? is it a big problem or will they still develop? I have plans to hatch in an egg carton so they would be upright in the end. any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Sib

I had some shipped eggs that had busted air cells and only one out of the 6 hatched. Of course, 3 weren't even fertile. And I didn't hatch them in a carton, they were on thier sides. So you might have much better luck than I did! Honestly, the whole experience turned me off completely to shipped eggs.

GOOD luck! I hope you have a great hatch!

In theory if you keep them upright then you might have a chance. If your inc. is not automatic i would glue a carton to some ovc pipr in order to keep them up right but still move them back and forth!

I have had a batch sent to me that had busted air sacs and some that were detached. The detached typically would develope and hatch. The busted air cells never developed or anything.

Hey, my cockatiel egg has a burst air sack but because their is a crack in the shell above the air ask their is still air in the air sack(their is just extra air rolling around in the egg)do you think it might survive?

a damaged air cell is doable, but a truely burst air sac doesn't hatch, they can be helped along to start, but even if they start, they always seam to die of something... i tried alot this year and i talked to alot of people, no luck

Sorry

I hate to contradict but I had 3 Dewlap Toulouse eggs this year with ruptured air cells and we hatched all three so its well worth persevering.

Good luck

i never say give up, if you have space, give it a go, but with several hundred shipped eggs, and many issues all i'm saying is just be prepared.

Syble is right to consider shipped eggs as difficult to hatch especially if there's internal damage. In fairness I should add that the 3 eggs we hatched with detached air cells were NOT shipped but due to a clumsy first year goose.
