Butchering ducks

Yes just the same. The only difference try a tiny bit of dish soap in the scalding water. It will break the surface tension and allow the water to penetrate to the base of the feathers a bit better.

We finally butchered all but one of our drakes (he has, of course, been re-christened 'Lucky'). I left them with the hens over the winter so that they would all be able to keep each other warm. These drakes were way too old for good eating, so I skinned them instead of plucking, and boiled them until I could pull the meat from the bones and canned the meat and stock to use in making dog food. It's amazing how scrawny looking the carcasses were without all the feathers! 5 Khaki Campbell drakes made barely 4 quarts of shredded meat.
