Buttercups

The buttercup comb is supposed to be completely around and able to hold a small amount of water. Most combs are open in the back or seperated. If you raise a lot you can get some good combs. In some countries they come in other colors,I think there is a silver version not unlike the Standard gold ones. There are black ones and all white ones (I think the whites were also known as Coventry Whites). One of the old American breeders was named Cook.He bred and promoted them for years. Some of the old Reliable Poultry Journals had articles on the Buttercups 100 years ago.

Ok guys since Fuzzy Butt is still in bed I have another question on Buttercups. From all the pictures I have seen they appear to be short legged is this desiable or should we be trying to breed for more station (LEG).
Thanks
Bill

I have a buttercup (hatchery stock). She was handled every day as a chick and she's still flighty. She is friendly in that she will eat out of my hand, but she always is ready to dart out of arms reach if you try to touch her. She is a great layer of medium sized eggs. She is also an excellent forager.

Thanks Guys I guess I will Just let Fuzzy Butt get her chicks( And I know she will)
