I have a m/f pair of buttons. The female continually sits on eggs but has been unsuccessful in hatching them. I've been considering removing the male but wondered if it would be best to replace him with a female.
Background: they are indoors in a community cage with diamond doves, canaries, and parson's finch. The male is oh-so-loud for indoors. I think he hears outdoor quail and is calling to them (and calling, and calling...). This is why I am thinking of removing him from the cage. But I wondered if it would be best for the remaining girl to have another button in the cage. If I do get a female I also wonder about introductions. Thinking I may have to have them separate but side by side for awhile?
Thoughts welcome.
