I'm sure it can be done, people do it all the time so the quail eat up the seeds on the bottom.

Provided there is a lot of space it would work out great. There's a really good webste about this, I think its zebrafinch.com.

I have a large 18 X 10 foot aviary with button quail and diamond dove and Finch along with Canaries they seem to all get along well.

Yes! I have a pair of zebra finches in with our buttons and Coturnix and they get along great. They even snuggle together in a colony! The zebra finches walk around the bottom of the aviary like they are quails haha. Funny story: One time one of the buttons jumped up onto the finch perch swing and was swinging on it... so cute. I would definitely recommend zebra finches!
