Hello! I recently put some quail eggs to hatch, and only one has hatched so far. The chick hatched yesterday.. anyway, said chick makes a strange noise. It sounds almost like a faint tapping or clicking. It's not exactly consistent, but its occurring enough to concern me. The chick drinks water, eats, cheeps normally and seems healthy. Could this be an issue with the crop or a respiratory infection? What can I do to help? Thanks

Douse he do a mouth open thing too ? It will grow out of it when it learns to drink properly, you have glass rock or marbles and all that in the water so it doesn't drown and such right, i find it weird too but mine who get it seems like they choke on water or something but later learn to drink better,

No, the mouth is closed when he does it which is what is confusing me.

Oh oh check tiny nose holes for clogged food powder that got wet and stuck

No, to me it sounds like a faint, occasional tapping. I've never had respiratory or crop issues with any of my birds so I'm unfamiliar with how those issues sound like.
Did u check the nose holes ?

It doesn't sound like anything I've encountered. I would separate the chick in case it has something contagious (give it a little stuffie or something for company), make sure it's warm and keep an eye on it. If it's not growing as fast as the other chicks there's a problem. If it seems normal otherwise, I would just watch it and see if it goes away.
