Button Quail died leaving her friend on her own. What do I do? Is it best to leave her on her own, or does she need a friend?

I agree with the feed being the problem.
Can you not buy game bird crumble feed?
Layer crumble would be better that what you currently feed too.

Just an idea but I have a single bantam, not smart I know, that gets lonely and goes broody because of it. I let her hatch eggs and she is quite happy until they get bigger then her ... I did hatch bantams with her before but they turned out to be male so she is alone again and broody so I gave her more eggs ( she was broody for a long time before I gave in and gave her eggs to sit on again so none were hers) anyway my point is you can guarantee that she won’t be lonely if she hatches babies. She will have a close bond with them.

Also, try to get a quail that looks a lot different then the one who died. If your new wuail is too similar, she could have trouble letting go her sister’s loss, constantly being reminded.:(
awh yes definitely I never even thought of that thank you 🥺

Yes I was thinking of trying something like this! That why she couldn’t get bullied as they’d only be chicks. The only problem is buttons rarely go broody i might see if there is something I can do to induce it?

@Ravenlover puts a heat lamp over the nest area I believe, and it draws in the birds to the nest with warmth. I think buttons have a good chance of being broody if their conditions of comfort and safety are met.
