Button quail laying, and!...

As a rule thou there are exceptions they need a good hiding place I give mine a small box on its side with fake plants all around it. I leave the eggs and she gathers them for the most part she lays in the box when she is ready she sits them. The most important things are to have a hiding spot and to leave them be do not mess with the cage anymore then you have to!

my hen made a nest in the corner of the cage, where she layed an egg, I hardly bother them, or the cage i NEVER try to handle the buttons, I only bother them every other day for food and water refreshment, I plan on adding lots to thier cage, i want to build a bigger inclosure for them up off the ground for outside when it starts stayig warm, I plan to plant live plant seeds in it.

I'm gonna give the brooding a try, i'm going to give her about 14-16 days, then a few days longer and see what she does, then i'll remove the eggs.

oh, and incase anyone wants to see, heres a pic of them :there first day home

yep looks like his skull, however from what i've read they should do well and yoru roo looks very active and if he's breeding his girl then his head isnt phasing him and should heal well completley OR maybe not, however he'll be fine i bet!!!! I had to cull a coturnix hen for scalping but she wasnt well.

what color are they anyways??, I think someone said silver???, or atleast from the way I described them

the little male is very active, he stares at the chicks through the cage like *tiny little arnold voice* "what? what? you want some of this??"
