You have a lot of cinnamons

I was hoping you could tell me the colors of those two, lol --
cinnamon hens you say Miss Fluffy Puffy? My sister has one of my girls that is also this color. There she is in my niece's kiddie microwave pretending to be a nugget.

Thank you for the compliments!

I still have a lot to learn on buttons yet. I try my best to keep them happy, but am trying different things. I have duos and trios both at the moment. I keep one color pairs and mixed color pairs. There are many cinnamon chicks yes -- Cinna-sass is the father to most of this batch. He sits on my shoulder and growls while I watch movies at night. I also have a cage with two boys named Junebug and Jackson. They are friendly to each other....very friendly sometimes, lol.

I'm working on trying to build larger pens from grid shelving (like they use on custom guinea pig cages) with screen around it. Who knows what will happen with this project.

I am hoping to get one of two books I've seen about button quails. A Closer Look At Button quails the name of one of them. Have any of you guys read that one or know of another good one?

Here are the babies of batch number three! I found four new ones in the morning which brings me up to a dozen fuzzies. There are a few more eggs to go!

(The temp was brought down to an even 96 degrees, though they seemed content in there.)

A Closer Look at Button Quail is the only book you will need. It has all the info on the birds. My best friend wrote it and that's how I practice the quail husbandry for these boogers

I want to see some hatch pictures from you guys! I have been trying to decide if I should go for one more batch this year in the incubator or not.
I have a good amount of eggs sitting in trays here. I have heard different things, but do Buttons lay eggs all through the year?

quailladyoffortmyers, your quail color varieties page is very good -- excellent photos! Bookmarked and I shall go back to visit it the rest of the way after this. Very beautiful birds! Someday I hope to adopt some Tuxedo colors into my group. Thanks for the info about the book -- too cool! I will try and snag a copy

Btw -- My sister found her cinnamon girl's first egg last night, so she was pretty egg-cited. (That's awful. Sorry.)

Nifty--- I would love to see more buttons! <3
Post as many as you can manage I say. I never get tired of see baby buttons for some reason.

I set my final batch into the Genesis a few hours ago...it begins anew.

** A dozen chicks from this last hatch -- plus another. Well, I did my first assisted hatch yesterday morning. The other 2 were DIS -- one pipped while I was away but never made it out. Anyhow, I got some damp paper towel and tweezers and gathered patience. I did good getting the little fellow out. It looked like he was wedged in there odd. He was ready to come out! I was crossing my fingers that he would be healthy. I saw two eyes....good. I saw a full beak....good. Body...wings...butt....legs....check! He was peeping like crazy and hyper as he crawled about. I left him be in the incubator to dry. I returned about 6 hours later to find him crawling around like an over grown spider. At least I know why he couldn't get outta there now. I know many would tell me to cull him. He is trying hard to thrive, but I don't know how he will be able to drink safely.

Is this most likely permanent? At least the other 12 are doing great. They tear around like little race cars in there...leaving poor little "Tiny Tim" in the dust. He doesn't seem to be in pain at all right now and isn't hurting anything. The others may pick on him yet, especially if he falls over and exposes his tender toes, so I will make a special spot for him now. I will try searching about the issue on here in the meanwhile. Thanks for listening.

Here is the little fella...seems to be hobbling better today. Getting around....and doing what he needs to get done. I hope he makes it.
I hope I didn't cause this. (Good flooring from birth, but looks like spraddle legs to me. I will try to get a bandage around the legs ever so carefully...tiny little guy.

Here is Mr.Cinna-sass...

He is the father of most of my quails since he has such a charming personality. The hens are now on vacation. I am still trying to figure a good schedule out for them.
