Buyer grief, what would you do?

In cold environments or even super hot in the Summer, I think that's a great idea. I bet a lot wouldn't be willing to pay that price, though.

Oh, I think serious hatchers would pay to have their eggs arrive in a safer manner.. I would..

BTW does anyone know what the temp is in a cargo compartment of a plane 1 mile or more high at this time of year? and not all eggs crack if they are frozen, either..

I all but quit selling on ebay for the scammers there. You have to put all kinds of stuff in your ad just to cover yourself from them. It is a crying shame we can't just take each other for our word anymore. I still say offer replacement eggs then block the buyer. At least you may get a positive feed back and if the eggs are good, maybe the little chicks will have a chance at life. If they are subject to proof they may get put in the freezer if they aren't really frozen in the first place.

Cara,

Here's your own thread on your experience with eggs in freezing temps.... and these werent insultated in bubble wrap and cardboard and you had success. It's not like his eggs were in freezing temps for many days and come on the post office couldnt have been as cold as he said.. even outside in a truck surrounded by tons of boxes.

I've gotten 2 shipments of eggs from Cara and am looking forward to another one here in the near future. She packages very well.

It sure seems like feedback blackmail to me. I'd remind her of your disclaimer on your auction.

I don't think having hatching eggs marked on the outside probably makes one iota of difference. I've recieved boxes that had fragile marked on them and they obviously hadn't been handled that way.

I guess to avoid negative feedback I'd offer her replacement eggs for the cost of shipping....and then block her from any future bidding on your auctions.

Your right but the point is that they have a dissatisfied customer. The fact that they are probably lying isn't an issue because it can't really be proven for sure. I still say offer replacement eggs. They will have to pay for sipping of course then block them from buying again. Get it over with ASAP. They will drive you nuts if you don't. That way hopefully you will get a positive feedback, if not you can post a follow up reply to it stating that replacement eggs where sent. That will cover in case a person is concerned about buying eggs. They will know you are good 2 your word.

Cover your fanny next time you place an ad. Write it off as a learning experience and move on.

Curious what those saying to offer replacement eggs would suggest if the buyer comes back another time or two saying the same thing. Do you keep replacing the eggs or just the one time?

I'd be more inclined to honor her request if she werent so snippy about it.

Did you send it Priority Mail?

It isn't hardly your fault that SD is experiencing this weird weather action right now. If they were sent Priority Mail, and got to her intact and in a timely manner, then I'd say it was no one's fault, and depending on your feedback count, I'd just eat the bad feedback. (or take it up with ebay or whichever auction place it is to get it taken off).

If you only have a couple of feedbacks, however, One bad feedback could hurt you for selling.

Save any correspondance, if you do try to have the bad feedback taken away, though - the people running the auction site may need it to determine if it is warranted.

Priority Mail is about a one to two day ship - so Tuesday to Thursday would be about right.

Just make sure you covered your end of the auction, and let the auction owner straighten it out if you are in the right.

meri

actually,,thats kind of normal weather for SD..I am in MN,,thats the very reason I AM NOT getting any until late april,may..I had green grass growing sunday,I have 1 inch of snow today..cold,blowing.yuck..I would probably just refund to keep things civil..but would be sure from now on people know if they order in winter it is THEIR risk, not yours..

Yes, I even mentioned that episode to the buyer when he was asking for me to track them the day after they shipped, as he wanted to know if they'd be any good when they arrived.

Nope...I'd do it one time and have it stated in writing in an email to them.

I really don't think Cara owes them any replacement eggs at all. Just saying hopefully maybe that would be a way to avoid negative feedback.
