Buying a vacuum, best one for pets?

We were looking at the Dyson Animal, and had heard that the lower purple model what the same vacuum just a different color?

I'm partial to the rainbow as well, I just put a screen in the kitchen sink then throw away the dog hair ball. Mine finally died and I can't afford to replace it with a new one yet.

A Miele canister vacuum. Super quiet, light, easy to use and gets everything!

It's expensive though.

Rainbows have been around for as long as Kirby, they are their main competetor, both priced at around $3000.00. I have never purchased one new however, I can get one about 5 yo for about $400.00 on ebay.

I also have the Dyson animal. I have no indoor pets but I do have four children. Same difference. Anyway, the Dyson is superior to any other bagless upright because you can easily take it apart and retrieve those little lego men, shards of glass, silly bands and whatever else your children shove under couch cushions. You can wash the Hepa filter too. I have had mine for seven years and it is still going strong. Before that we were constantly replacing vacuums - Best Buy wouldn't even sell us a warranty anymore. Picked up a Dyson Animal Costco for a little extra and have loved the experience. Worth every penny.

I cant see paying $400 for a vacuum much less $3000.... I guess I will stick to my hard wood floors an a $5 broom...

We fell for the Kirby about 23 years ago. It was a fantastic vacuum. Of course it was 1500 at the time. Still a bit much. We bought a used one a few years later ( gave the other one back, credit ding) it sucked well but was difficult to push around for some reason.

I hate vacuums. They always get stuff stuck in the tube where it goes in to the machine and makes a turn. We switched to wood floors. Carpet is such a pain. As for the dogs, we just shave them and they have to wear a jacket when they go out.

Dyson Animal hands down, I love mine, we have two dogs and two cats and it gets all the hair. When we first got it I swept my bedroom carpet twice with my old Hoover then went over it with the new Dyson and the canister was FULL of hair. Gave the Hoover to Goodwill. I especially like the wand that is attached, so quick to open up pull out the wand to get at a tight spot and then replace and continue working. No bags, washable filters, whats not to like.
