buying chicks from tractor supply?

Just today I found out our local Tractor Supply can order pullets! It appears from others that it is OK to order from them. I tried our farm bulletins but could not find anyone with the pullets I want to buy. I will let the group know if they arrive safe and sound and their overall condition. TS says they will arrive at our local post office and we pick them up from there. I am so excited!!

just purchased 18 red mixed pullets from them... they were priced ok and were spunky little critters when I got them home. I made it home with 19, so that was a bonus...

they were 2.99..... not cheap... but not high either.... Atwoods here in Oklahoma wanted 4.49 for them and they were strait run..... so 2.99 for pullets was not that bad I thought...

These are $3.49 for pullets of the many breeds they offer. I ordered 25 pullets - 5 each of Ameraucana, California White, Welsummer, Sex Link and Black Australorp

How long did it take you to get them after you put your order in?

Also check with any of your local feed stores. I used to live in North Georgia, and had no idea that the feed stores got chicks in each spring, until I went chicken crazy! If you are just getting into chicken madness, it is nice to be able to buy them from TSC or the feed store. That way you don't have to order them and worry about them being shipped across the country!

The tractor supply puts out some good chickens

Went to the tractor supply in Woodland, they had 2 bins of chicks and one bin of ducks. One been had cornish X and was labeled correctly, the second bin had a all reddish chick, yellow chick and a chipmunk looking chick. The signs said Red indian watefowll, leghorn and production red. I asked the employee where was the waterfowl, he said there, I said where. He says the red ones, I tell him waterfowl are ducks or geese. He says that's what the box said, I explain to him that the production reds are the red chicks, the yellow chick are leghorn and the chipmunk striped chick are most likely Indian games. He says they have to write whats on the box, then they tell a lady that the pekin and runner ducks will migrate and they should have netting over the top of her pen. Go figure! The chick and duckling all looked srtong and healthy, you just got to do a little homework before you purchase anything from there,
