I had gotten a potluck from the Silverrud person, but my yellow top incubator crashed on me, but now I use 2 great incubators, foam, one for the first 18 days, one for the lockdown/hatching days. Works great.
My current order coming this week is from Foxfire farms in ID She also has Isbar which I am hoping to get. ( have gotten them before.) She says she is sending me some fun new breeds she is working on.
You can find her on ebay, just type in "Potluck eggs"
Looking forward to seeing those fun breeds!
Meanwhile, I had my best year yet for shipped eggs, hit an average of 81% hatch rates with a total of 210 eggs shipped. I have 18 more eggs due to come Tuesday, 12 Chinese quail and 6 Silkie bantams.
At what point will you be overwhelmed?
I don’t have quail but I usually feel like 50 is plenty (chickens) I try to maintain a flock of 45 or less.

Well the most we have at one time at the moment is about 50 quail.

I generally hatch about 20-30 quail, at 6 weeks kill the boys and freeze them. At 8-10 weeks or when space is needed, kill the girls and freeze them. Then continue this, so I hatch a lot so we can try to always keep our freezer full. Unfortunately, 30 quail lasts us 2-3 weeks at the most.

I don't plan to have many Silkies, just a few. My Chinese painted quail are just as a bit of an experiment as I would like to see what they're like in comparison with my coturnix in person. Meat quail don't take up much space, and not for long so it's easy enough to manage.. just the expensive food at the moment ...

I got potluck from foxfire farms. This is what you could get if you ordered potluck eggs through the ebay

I have bought eggs from ebay several times. I have had 80% or above hatch rate from greenfire farms, s2htoyco, iuhoosier76-4, imhoneygirl, michflgn16, and highvalleyhatchery. I have bought eggs from 14 sellers on ebay overall, and I have only had 0 hatch once, and that was an order of two peafowl eggs. Every other ebay order, I have had at least one egg hatch, on my other orders, most were around 50-60% hatch rate.

That's sad about the peafowl eggs. I'll bet they were expensive.

Yeah, it sucked. I had previously ordered 2 peafowl eggs from a different seller, and only one hatched. I decided to get more so it would have a friend, but that seller didn't have any available anymore, so I went with a different seller and nothing hatched. I ended up just buying two more peafowl chicks from someone local. I don't think i'll be buying anymore peafowl eggs on ebay. Oh well, live and learn. 🤷‍♀️
