Buying Hatching Eggs Safe?

Unsure if this is the right area.

Aside from shipping eggs & the risk involved with that.
Do you have to be careful with germs/diseases/etc...that you would bringing in a new member to the flock from someone else's flock??

We are looking to get a few more chickens of specific breeds; needing specific things but the prices & minimums are outrageous.

Would love some input from you all.

For sure, the risk is high enough..

Mycoplasma, (MS/MG), salmonella, IB, etc would be major considerations..

This link had a nice chart list of what disease and how it's transmitted.. (I think transovarian and vertical transmission are the same)

Shipping eggs across state lines is illegal without NPIP certification.. but which unfortunately does not test for many of these things and varies by state.

lol then that’s a freakin joke.
Already discovered that last week; NPIP is not worth crap for the most part as it doesn’t even test for major issues that could affect the flock, like MG.
