Pollinator: Day 3

This is a little late, but I did get this done today. (Actually just finished it.) I did a Ruby-Throated Hummingbird. Though I'm not particularly a fan of the 'common', I do love seeing these little guys visit my flower garden during the Summer.

Lacy, this is STUNNING

Thanks!

(I actually think this is one of the best bird pictures I've ever done. It's going to be hard for me to do anything better during this. 😭)
You might surprise yourself :hugs
But hey, if you don't then at least you achieved something really good that you might not have if you didn't participate, so good job!

That's true, thanks! I know I wasn't expecting this, so maybe.

Finished my Day 1! I'm actually really happy with how it came out. It's not as nice as I'd hoped, I should have thought ahead and picked better paper, and this is only the second or third colored pencil project I've ever done - and I've not really done any birds in the past. All in all, it's at least nice to look at! It was a "trust the process", haha. Yay, I'm happy.View attachment 4226745
Wow! I love the metallic gleam of the feathers, they have lovely subtle undertones!
I think folks who can just *poof* "look at this thing I have seen three times from a distance!" Are crazy talented! Maybe fewer folks do it than I think?
Thank you again. 😊 I will try to do more. I've got some catching up to do, or maybe I will just pick and choose, lol.
I would be surprised if anyone here is drawing without a reference... Every bird species has so many subtle details you would miss when drawing them for the first time!
Two birds, one day. (Stone?)

Sparrow, and Pollinator.
A Song Sparrow and Ruby-Throated Hummingbird.

In my time doing this challenge, I think the one thing that has stood out most to me is the sheer variety of colors in birds.
Even the plainest little brown thing is full of purples and greens and blues— that being said, they leave us artists with lots of room to play.

That sparrow is such an adorable little orh and I love how you draw the fluffiness of the feathers

Awww this is amazing!
And you did a much better job with the flower than I did XD
It looks lovely!

Day 3: Pollinator. This year I’m only drawing birds that I’ve seen in my yard before, this one is a Calliope Hummingbird :D I also tried watercolor again, and I’m not super pleased with it, but it’s so, so much better than my first attempt last year!

So cute! I love how round he is! And I think you did a good job with the watercolor!

Once in a blue moon I remember that watercolor pencils are an option that's available to me...
*me remembers my 3+ sets of watercolour pencils*

For extravagant tail I did the red golden pheasant which is one of the prettiest birds ever in my opinion.
Stunning birds and beautiful picture :love
