So, you don’t want to do them straight, you want to imagine them with round tips- see? Where the joints are.
And if your drawing a side veiw, usually the 2nd toe will hide the outside one (so it looks like there’s only two).
Also, if your on a flat surface, the claw is going to be lifting up the whole toe.
Typically, when I start drawing a talon, I’ll curve down, then up, and then the curve of the claw.
The claws themselves are actually more triangle-shaped, and the smaller the animal, the thinner the triangle.
