Peas are so beautiful but I am especially loving these blue & white mottled ones! They are just...wow... I've never seen these.
They're probably some mutt for all I know but I have a new favy pea!

It's hard to explain the genetics. They are called Indian Blue Pied. When you breed them together you get a White, Pied, and a Dark Pied which I'm don't know how to explain dark pied other than they look like a color cross to a White.

That's the mating call that sounds like Help, Help! These peafowl will be old enough to breed next year so they will probably make it next year. My peas will do it this Spring as well. I have a White male and a new White hen from this farm that will be paired up together.

The next peafowl I get from there possibly will be Java Greens. The lady also invited me back out in the Spring time to take pictures of them when they have their trains.

About how long does it take to grow out a full train? My grandma had about a dozen on the dairy ranch while I was growing up & I always loved the full tails.

Hehehe we got some pretty fierce competition. Everyone brought their A-game! I don't envy poor Deb, she's got so many perfect pictures to choose from!

They are about 2 or 3 years old when they grow their first actual train. It takes 5 to 6 months for the train to be fully grown on the peacock.

@Scovy Momma we had a couple of peacocks come visit us on the farm last year. Don't know where they came from because as far as I know nobody near our farm keeps them. My hens free range so they stuck around for a few days eating the feed and drinking the water. We had a hen raising babies at the time and she is the only one they would attack. We asked around and nobody knew anything so about after about a week we put them on craigslist. I would have kept them if it was a pair, but they were 2 boys. Beautiful boys and I enjoyed the sounds they made. They roosted way up in a big tree in our yard.
