BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

I ordered a harness for Piper for hiking on the park trails. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday. It didn't come so I will be delaying our adventure to tomorrow. I can easily let Bella off leash and she will stay right next to me. Piper is entirely different story.

I've been trying to decide which of the 4 cockerels I might want to keep for an extended stay. The black one brought the decision down to 3. He is locked up in the ward. Yesterday I watched him ruthlessly go after my d'Uccle, Jody. She was screaming and running. Fabio wanted to intervene but they were outside the back of the run and he was inside.

This morning, he did the same to my Sebright, Tink. But he made the fatal error of doing it behind my back IN the run while I was putting out the feed. I casually set down the food containers and quick as a snake strike, reached out and snatched him by the tail while he was eating. Let me tell you, I've never seen a bird more scared for his life! He was shrieking and flapping and kicked and twisting trying to get away. I nearly lost my grip on his tail before I finally got the other hand on his back to squash him to the ground. Then he was mine! I tucked him under my arm and carried him to his new home and tossed him in the ward. I can hear him out there still complaining.

Those other 2 boys took off out of the run issuing predator alerts and running around to the back of the run. You bet I am and you better have learned a lesson on what happens when you misbehave in this flock. One or both of them will be joining their brother sooner or later. We'll have to see what the little GLW boy does. He's much younger than the others.

Yesterday I finally got around to cleaning out my bedroom closet. It was a mess in there! I had bought a shoe rack early this year before things got really bad with Dave and my back and the box has been sitting behind my couch ever since.

I had to wash mildew off several pairs of shoes and dry then in the sun. When I opened the box, no instructions. Great. So I put it together by playing around with the pieces and looking at a picture of the final assembly. I love having all my shoes off the floor! I also lowered the jeans/slacks rod so I can use the shelf above it and under the blouses/sweaters/dresses rod. I applied cedar oil to all the pressed chipped cedar boards, removed everything from the floor and scrubbed it clean, moved the jewelry armoire to the front of the closet and installed all but 2 of the short shelves I had to remove at the back of the closet. I LOVE it now!

Other than the sewing machine, once I get the building materials out when the guest bathroom is finished there will be nothing on the floor.

I have 5 bags of donations and an old suitcase and backpack to drop off at the Salvation Army Tuesday.
