BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. HOT coffee is ready.

We got more snow than had been forecasted. HUGE surprise that...
The good news is, it's light and fluffy.
The bad news is it's 18F out and there are frozen tire tracks under the fluff all the way down the driveway. I keep hitting them.
And I don't know how I can be sweating in my Carharts while my left hand has frozen.
So I'm in for a warm up.

Good morning and thanks for the hot coffee!
Yay for the longer days! Solstice got here earlier! 2:20 am ;)
Leaf blower snow, DL! That oughta give Piper something to think about.
DS$ heads home today. I am glad for the nice travel weather out this way. I need to load some firewood into our car to drop-off to my GD's house while I am in the area.
Those cookies sound and look delicious, LF! I wish my elderberry bushes would hurry up and grow big enough to fruit.
Enjoy the day, Cafe! Have some fun this weekend!

Did you keep on your feet?
Yah, fingertips and toes are the first to send me back inside.

I took a fall in the run this morning, slipped with the bag gam side and ended up on knee and elbows. Luckily was close to the ground, bent over to spread scratch, so not far to fall. Made my heart pound tho.

A leaf blower with 7" of snow would be kinda cool! Piper would get buried.

Yes. Believe me, I am constantly thinking of keeping "perfect form" while shoveling. I will not reinjure my back doing something stupid.
I got the work done in 2 sessions. The end of the driveway gets more sun so the ridges faded as I went down towards the road.

Agreed.
What was weird is that the right hand was fine. Just the fingers of the left hand froze.

The chickens are all hunkered down in the coop. They ran to me when I brought their warm electrolyte infused mash and noshed on it for while before heading back in.

I had to use the scraper to pop poops off but it wasn't bad because I tried to prepare for it last night with an additional layer of litter.

Colby is still doing great with no signs of frostbite but we won't go single digits until tonight and tomorrow.

So far, I am happy with my choice of cockerel I decided to keep. Colby was a normal ass hat youngster but is coming along nicely. Even Fabio doesn't give him too much grief. Colby has not stolen any of Fabios ladies yet but I bet he does this spring. We'll see if he and Fabio can keep their hormonal tempers in check when the flush hits this spring.

My only Colby complaint today was when he thought crowing inside the coop with me in there was a fine idea. MAN is that LOUD!
