I am sorry that your Pip passed away.Pip, my hen with salpingitis, passed last night. I buried her near Sunny, who died in March. These two were my "lap chickens."
Fly high and free, little Pippy! You and Sunny keep each other company, just as you used to do.
You know also because you candled the eggs.Good evening! I spent much of my day getting ready for the chicks that the grandkids and their parents hatched. They’ve got 7/18 so far, with no more pips. The due date was yesterday.
Funny (to me) story - I was talking with a family friend about the eggs. She is a biologist/college professor who spent time in Madagascar studying Lemurs and has several pet chameleons. She asked me if I was sure the eggs were fertile, and I said, “Yes, I have two roosters and 22 hens.” And she asked again, “But how do you know for sure that the eggs are fertile?” So I looked her in the eye and repeated, “Because I have ‘two roosters’ with my 22 hens. I can guarantee that most, if not all if the eggs will be fertile.”
