I'm noticing significant changes in my flock dynamics and some interesting behaviors since Fabio died.

Some lower ranking hens have been going after Astrid, the head hen. She may have lost her crown to Kylie.

Anne, my hen that will crow during chick season, was crowing her head off a couple of days ago. I saw either her, Jody, or Remi would hang out with Fabio during the days when he was sick.

I saw Anne tidbit some of Savannah's chicks that were left behind in the run when Savannah ran into the coop for raisins. I have never seen any motherly tendencies with Anne. Yet it was just her and eight of the chicks out in the run and she was tidbitting some scratch she had found. That is something that Fabio would have done for the chicks.

Hopefully non one act like a rooster jumping on everyone else. I had 1 hen was doing that after our rooster gone. My flock super slowly less chaotic after 5 months without the rooster.

Good Morning All,

I am drinking a big cup of coffee mixed with tea. I need more warm drinking water and I also need coffee, why not mix them together.

This morning my new washing machine will be delivered, but I feel torn to throw out my old washing machine. It is 30 years old, we had fix it once before and now the tube is leaking and the new tube cost $300.

I do not like the new washing machine because they come in touch screen, I do not like those but that all there is available these days. The old machine I have now is all mechanic, knob for turning, I like it that way.

Although I will get a new washing machine today, I will continue to use the old one by having a tray to catch leaking water under the washing machine, I will eventually let it goes when it leaks too much.

Years ago, I was having issue with parting with my old Datsun 120Y car, I drove it for so long and I got it from my brother for $400, he got it from Mom. I love that car, but DH says too much repair was done already, it is costing more than the cost of the car.....

Off to chicken business now.

I didn't have the heart to close the door and block their sun. I don't believe they've ever seen the sun in their lives thus far! Today they're two weeks old. I don't remember a whole lot of sun in the last 2 weeks. They were sun/dust bathing in the bedding.

The pond landscaping is starting to bloom and fill in.

Pip, my hen with salpingitis, passed last night. I buried her near Sunny, who died in March. These two were my "lap chickens."

Fly high and free, little Pippy! You and Sunny keep each other company, just as you used to do.

@Sally PB . You have a flock growing somewhere else. That's how I look at it. Fabio is back with Barb, Rhoda, Olivia, Seneca, Wren, Mackenzie, and on and on.

We are expected to get to low 80s today.

Mid 80s and a grumpy hubby expected here. Maybe not, because he's going kayaking. He can come home, shower, and sit in a not-yet-hot house.
