BYC Café

We've been having rain, rain, rain and muggy 80's (hate heat) I've been waiting for a dry day to renovate my old flower bed.

DID someone mention ZEBRA CAKES ???? Just put that on my grocery list for tomorrow., along with "Blue Bunny" ice cream novelties - $2.88 plus I have 75 cent off cpns.

Afternoon folks! Busy planting as well. DS @, #, $ are all out playing baseball and mountain biking and hollering; echoing all over the valleys. A Good day! So many kids never go outside and play these days.

Why yes, that would be me! I am addicted to those. And Little Debbie Swiss Rolls lol hostess ho hos are gross in comparison, just tried one. Cake dry and everything fake tasting. Swiss Rolls are where it's at. And of course the classic zebra cakes lol did you know they make a zebra roll now? Cake in roll form lol i mistakenly got it once but it was still good. Tgey also make brownies. So make sure it's actually zebra cakes instead of doing what I did and seeing ZEBRA on an end cap and grabbing it without reading cause you're so excited to get them LOL

We must share "snacker" genes. I have driven people nuts - reading store ads that show Swiss rolls etc. in their sale only to find they don't even carry them. It's not nice to fool Drumstick Diva! You can't trust a grocery store that does that.

I remember a screwy movie from years back "Zombieland." with Woody Harrelson. He went through the most zombie infested areas checking out deserted stores looking for "Twinkies." He found them too.

I've always felt the Hostess cupcakes had plastic icing, the Twinkies tasted like soap. I didn't miss them in the time they left the market. I still could get Little Debbies. Haven't seen Zebra rolls yet but which do you think is better., rolls or cake? I also like the Christmas trees in season.

We must! I am constantly snacking too. It is a sad day when we run out of snacks. Cookies, pretzels, crackers, goldfish, popcorn, little debbie, you name it I'll eat it

I don't think I've ever seen that movie but I remember hearing about it. That's too funny.

I agree. I got the chocolate cupcakes and the orange ones a few weeks ago and they were dreadful. Especially the orange. So fake and sticky. Oddly my dad loved the orange ones so I gave them to him. I used to love Hostess but I don't know if I was a kid and didn't care or notice quality or if they truly have gotten worse. My dad says they went bankrupt, hence the break, but that they got bought out and significantly reduced the amount of bakeries. They used to have tons, definitely over a dozen I think, and it's down to 3 now. If so that could explain the lack of quality. But even back then I thought Twinkies were a disgusting idea.

I personally love the cake just because it's a classic and what I'm used to but the rolls I think you almost get more. Hard to decide. You could always try both and see for yourself :P and oooohhhh I'veI've never tried those! Will have to. They make butterfly cakes too.

was it a brand new pond, with no cover, or escape grasses for the perch?

What kind of perch are you talking about Bert.....the perch we have up here would never survive in Texas.

Hi all you coffee lovers (and tea lovers). It's early and so far everyone is sleeping in this a.m. I've already been out to check on my feathered babies. I'm down to  11 black sex-link roos, and 5 "Reds" pullets, that are about 6 weeks old. At this point they look like miniature chickens in all their glory. They have just began free-ranging during the daytime. I also have 5 little chicks maybe 3 weeks old. They are 3 different breeds but I don't know what. They were sold as "Heavies" but I'm betting 2 are bantams of some type or the others are "Giants" or probably both is true, lol.

I have a bunch of children 4 grown and 3 still at home, along with one of my grandsons. I call them the "Wildbunch" after all the ones still at home are all boys, lol. Our house is the loudest so its good we moved to the country. With 3 ponds on the property and woods surrounding it the Wildbunch spends a lot of time outside fishing or exploring. We attend church with a loving church family. My husband works at a major poultry plant. Its a tough job but it pays the bills.

Welcome!
