My neighbor had a chow-chow that terrorized our chickens and rabbits when I was a kid 25 years ago. My dad warned the neighbor once, and said he would take care of the dog if it showed up again. It killed almost all the chickens and 50 rabbits. When it did come back, dad welcomed it with a 308.
The neighbor was really mad, but dad told him that noone has the right to let their dogs kill other people's pets. And that his dog made 2 little girls cry. So that was it for the chow-chow. Turns out that the rest of the neighborhood was having problems with it too. It bit a few kids up, but nobody wanted to deal with the monster. In the end, it's the owner's fault for allowing the dog to roam. I hope whoever owns the dogs that attacked your hens gets hung out to dry for destruction of property. You have my condolences.
I don't know why people think their dogs life is more important than another animals. I understand you love your pets, but if your dog runs onto someone else's land and kills their animals, getting shot in the process, then you can't really act surprised. There are signs around here saying, 'any dogs beyond this point will be shot.' Some German couple took their dog walking there anyway and it got killed. I felt bad for them, don't know if they couldn't read the sign or what - they couldn't seem to speak any other languages. The field was full of sheep, and their babies, the dog started chasing them. I was on the beach, and the field is on a cliff so I understand she had to do something to stop it.

Mornin'. Thank you for the coffee. You all have been so kind. Thank you. I think it's great a home was found for TW. Will your daughter be able to ride Woody? I recall you saying he's green. I had a green broke horse try to throw me when I was in my 30s. My son's hat blew off and spooked the horse. My dad has horses out in NM and I had taken the boys out for a vacation. That was the ride of my life! Luckily we were in Dad's roping arena. Great memories, lol! Woody's very goodlooking in the pics.
Ya'll have a great day. I'll be back for another cup in a bit.

I'm making signs on pallet wood today saying that very thing. Unfortunately, the officer said she believed the dogs had been dumped off in a rural area by someone from town that didn't want them any more or couldn't have them any more. She said that happens alot. Going to look at more chickens today. We're not giving up.

Good morning, iced coffee anyone? Off to work today, DH has today and tomorrow off, so at least "the boys" won't be alone today. The plott hound is taking Miss Wiggles death pretty hard...

FiveLittleHens, so sorry about your babies. I absolutely hate irresponsible pet owners. If you don't want your dog, bring it to the local shelter. People drop their dogs off up here too. They seem to think that "some nice farmer" will take them in and feed them. What happens is they form packs, terrorize farm animals, looking for food and eventually meet a less than pleasant end.

Lsky, my cousin is going to veterinary school in Edinburgh Scotland, and she tells me there are more sheep than people in Wales. Here in Montana, there are certainly more cattle than people.
