BYC Café

Yes. I just got home from a funeral and 85% chocolate and coffee is helping to numb things a bit.

Oh, I'm very to hear that @Terrysgirl. Funerals are terribly sad, especially when it's someone young, or someone that you were very close to.

I remember many years ago (when I was 17) one of my school mates passed away in a MV accident. His funeral was sad, yes. But it was also a great celebration of his life. They even played AC/DC music as he was carried from the church.

I doubt he would have wanted to leave the party so early, but at least he left the way he would have wanted to at the time.

My sincere sympathies on your loss. I hope that in time you find solace in good memories.

Thanks everyone. :) It was my former father in law so the funeral was rather awkward with not really knowing to stand with guests or family and things like that...some older relatives were confused as to why my ex was with someone else (his new wife), so we just made the best of it. We are all on good terms which makes things easier but still..tough to see all of his side of the family and remember the way things used to be. It was an emotionally draining day and the first funeral of someone they were close to, that my children needed to attend. They're older and handled it well however.

Now I'm gearing up to start work (from home) with my coffee that my SO left for me before he went to work. Happy Valentine's Day everybody! It's a very cold one here (my phone app says 0* F) and the windchill is predicted at -25* F I think. Crazy. When I get those chickens I hope they won't freeze.

Man, that does sound awkward. Not a lot of people could be adults about that. I have an ex-wife know that would not be civil if it was us.

Krista, you hit a kangaroo with your car? You don't hear that very often. How tall are they? I don't think I've hit anything bigger than a rabbit.

Oh and Happy Valentines Day. Taking the family to a market. Getting the wife some flowers and getting flatbread and humus for lunch. Mmmmm.
gosh, I miss those california farmer's markets!! I got really spoiled while living there. :)

p.s. to anyone who might be considering 50 shades of gray.. SKIP IT!!!

I did not read the book but thought it'd be a fun diversion for last night as we actually had time to go see a movie and we wanted to see what the buzz was about. Bad acting and they seemed to have as much compatability as oil and water. I really didn't care for the actor choices but just my 2C. He came across as a stalker and it creeped me out. I have no idea what I was expecting though. I wish I'd waited for netflix and would have saved my $20. ;) Oh well...the popcorn was excellent!!
