BYC Café

Mornin', Sour. I'll have a cup, thanks . . . . lessee, where's mine gotten off to . . .

Ah, there it is.

Oh, that's good. Just what I needed.

Feelin' a bit rough around the edges today. Our last parade of the season was last night. I don't know why I can't figure out how long things will take to do, but we left here 45 minutes later than I intended, so I was feeling pretty rattled, and I wound up missing a turn, went waaaay out of my way and almost didn't get there in time. I couldn't get right to the place where I wanted to go because the roads were already blocked, but I parked as near as I could get. When BB2K and I opened the trailer, we found Blondie on her hind legs with her forelegs over the divider - how she got that way, why she got that way, is anybody's guess. No idea how long she'd been that way, either, but she wasn't limping and was her usual "sure, let's do this, whatever you want" self, so I don't think she got hurt. We scrambled to get everybody unloaded and into their blankets, lit the lights, and headed for the floats we could see. There was a lady there with a clipboard who told me the float I was looking for was at "A," this was "B;" "A" was a couple of blocks that way . . . . it wasn't. BB2K and I wound up running and fast walking 6 or 8 blocks including part of the parade route trying to find "A," and finally caught up with our float about 150 feet away from where we'd parked in the first place.

BB2K had elected to take Syd, and I wound up dealing with both Blondie and Betsy. Betsy got a little rattled by the "pooper scooper" that was following us a couple of times (a guy in a rubber horse mask carrying a broom and dustpan) but other than that, the girls were absolute troopers - you'd have thought they did this all the time. Even Syd only needed to be reminded not to "hug" BB2K a couple of times, other than that, she led on a slack lead, and did what she was told without fuss.

(well, OK, Syd did have a major spook when she first saw the pooper scooper, but BB2K had him give Syd a carrot, and she decided he wasn't so bad after all)

Not a bad night, all in all.

But this morning, Critter has stolen my car to go see someone about buying a Hobie catamaran. The last time he did this, he drove a heckuva distance for a boat that wasn't worth the bother so he didn't buy it; this time, he's driving even further so I hope it's worth his while. He left before dawn, and might be home before dark, but that's a lot of driving in one day. I wish he had a relief driver with him, but our son couldn't be persuaded. Praying for a safe journey.

Good Morning Sir Sour and Bunny,

Sir Sour, I do thank you for getting the place opened up and the liquids of my morning life ready.
Bunny, You have way more fun then the law allows most of the time.
I hope that Critter gets home safe and sound.
It is just a bit nippy outside, but they say it will get up to the high 40's today.

Enjoy the wonderful Sunday, or what is left of it.

Hey, Scott!

We're heading for the mid 50's. Crazy weather - yesterday's high was in the mid-40's, tomorrow's high forecast for about 70. And a good chance of rain, for the next few days - any of that headed your way?

Hubby (and Hobie) are home. This boat was in even better condition than he'd hoped; it appears to be in nearly pristine condition. He'll have to buy new sails and rigging, but even at that, the boat will have cost him less than the trailer alone would have cost new, and you'd think the trailer was new looking at it. He's pleased, very pleased (I think the only reason he isn't smiling now is that his face hurts from smiling so much)

Only doing the high 50's, but we are in for a bit of rain, just not alot at any one time.

All ended up getting down to -5 last night.... But it's up to 9 now. Getting a little snow here. But from what I see most of it is staying south of us
You all enjoy your Sunday and stay warm.
Thanks Phil, after the wind and low 20's the high 40's are good and then we get even hotter for Tuesday.

Do you sail with your Critter?
Good to hear that him and his cat made it home safe and sound.

Good for Critter. Is this one that he can manage without endangering your son ?
I don't know if I would get on something that small thats so fast.
The DS is alot younger then I am, so he might like the idea.
