BYC Café

See? Ridiculous amounts of tea.

I never use the fancy hot chocolates or the boring teas and don't really know where they came from but they look good lol I'm more of a Swiss Miss and herbal tea kinda gal myself

The Bigelow Pumpkin Spice and Salted Caramel are caffeinated but all the rest except the ones in the plastic container are herbal I think. Not sure about the Chai Pumpkin Spice.

That's a nice haul

Good Morning WVC,

Good news about DH and his Doc.

TK if tomorrow is the last day of your work week, today is your Thursday. Have a good almost Friday morning!
Room OB, coffee in bed can be a good thing, until the cat jumps up and spills it.

A cat is one of the few things I don't have crammed inside my little house... 3 kids, 3 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, a rabbit & a giant Red Ear Slider on the inside. Chickens, quail & a duck on the outside. You can probably guess we don't get a lot of visitors here.

That's a lot of animals!! Lol

Although I've thought about getting some of the same lol

We just have a dog, a cat, and 8 chickens right now.

But I really want a second dog or cat and more chickens.

I also reeeeeallyyyyyy want goats.

And then I've always wanted a rabbit or guinea pigs or a snake but I know those aren't practical right now and I probably can't. But I've thought of it instead of a second dog or cat but they both need lots of space, minus the snake, and my family wouldn't go for it. Oh that reminds me, I actually would love rats, mice and/or a pair of gerbils too, or at least a hamster, but those are DEFINITELY a no go lol I could probably sway them on a rabbit or guinea pig. We actually used to have a rabbit but he died :(

OH! And i used to have parakeets and would LOVE more, and actually take care of them properly this time, or a cockatiel, but both cost a lot to set up and require a lot of maintenance and time.

I thought about a bearded dragon or gecko too but it's not on the top of my must have list haha

Primarily I want goats, a second dog and/or cat, guinea pigs, and more chickens. And ducks. I love ducks. But that requires a whole separate pen rather than just adding more chickens.

I also want and will eventually get horses but they're expensive and need a lot of room and that one is definitely a no go here. Plus I have nowhere to ride without clearing trees to make a flat enough area which is expensive.

Soooooo yeaaaaaaahhhhhhhh......

Basically I just want every animal ever :lau :lau

But I live at home right now so it'll never happen. But I think I can move my mom on the chicken thing. And I'm working on the goat thing.

I'm thinking a second cat might be a first step. Especially since we appear to have a mouse problem in the garage so I think I can sway them. Then eventually move it inside :p

My neighbor calls it 'a menagerie' but she means it in a nice way. We only got most of the dogs & the chickens on purpose. The rest of 'the menagerie' just kind of happened (mostly lost, injured or abandoned animals that we couldn't find homes for, so they just kind of stayed.) My brother jokes that there's an invisible sign on my gate telling lost pets they can find a home here. Our duck lives with the chickens & she is very close with a few of them. My avatar pic is Mako & Hope two very unusual BFF's.

PS. Rabbits & guinea pigs are very stinky. We clean them every single day but they still reek. We've had a lot of animals over the years & none of them have smelled as bad as these do. A hampster or a beardie might be a lot less smelly.

Oh wow! That's kind of nice though and honestly if/when I get my own place, I'll probably do the same thing whether I'm in the suburbs or out in the middle of the country somewhere. I love animals so I'm sure there will be lots that wander onto the property and never leave. And I'm sure I'll be wayyyy too nice and let any future kids keep animals they find

unless of course it's something that needs specialized care or there's no room or something. Or something I hate. Like a tarantula or scorpion. But those aren't likely to just wander up lol but they won't be purchased either

But LOL there probably is :p

Aww they are so cute!! Maybe they'd be okay living together then :)

Is the duck messy? I really wanted them, and still do, until I heard waterfowl poop is a lot worse than chicken poop?

And oh wow, that's unfortunate about them smelling so bad :/ I knew ferrets smelled terrible but didn't realize rabbits and guinea pigs did too. I guess I won't be getting them then

Ducks are really messy. Not just their huge wet poops, but also their desire to splash their drinks & bath water everywhere. When we first got her, the coop was a sopping wet poopy mess every morning. That's not good for the chickens, so we replaced her nighttime drinking bucket with a nipple waterer. She can still get a drink, but has to wait until morning to take a bath. Also we put linoleum floor & a lot of straw on the floor of the coop for ease of cleaning & absorption. Since she is just one duck its not an issue, but if we had a lot of ducks we'd probably have to build a separate duck house. What kind of goats do you want & what do you want to do with them? Milk, cheese, food, scrub brush control, or just for hugging?

Its still pouring here. I'm going for a wild & crazy 4:00pm cuppa & this time I'm gonna make it chocolate.

Thanks for the info! They sound like somewhat a pain to take care of, like continuous chicks lol, but they sound fun at the same time! Is yours loud? And I'm not really sure what type of goats, I was thinking some sort of dairy breed I guess or Boer goats, doesn't really narrow it down very much though lol

But mostly Nigerian Dwarf and/or Pygmy, and then Alpine, Nubian, or LaMancha. I hadn't considered the latter two before but people have convinced me they might not be bad lol that or Oberhasli or Toggenburg but those are a little harder to find and more expensive.

So basically I guess the short answer is just whatever I can find haha

I want them mostly for pets but also for brush/weed control, a reason why I thought dwarfs might not work and Boers or at least full size goats might. I'm still on the fence about whether I want milk or not, I can be somewhat lazy sometimes so I'm not sure I want to milk them or make stuff aha but yeah, mostly for hugging :p
