Treerooted - your chickens go out in the snow - did you have to threaten them?

They were not keen when we had a big dump of the stuff in November! I had to lay out a bunch of hay because they were not interested! I also scatter some feed outside when I open up the chicken door, though I think I started doing that mostly so I would get slightly less hassled when going into the coop first thing in the morning. I'm honestly impressed, they seem to have warmed up to the concept. But they do spend a lot of time in the coop, especially on cold/windy days.

Happy Friday

We got about 1.5" snow yesterday with the possibility of more today. That's ok though, we'll be glad for the extra moisture in the coming spring/summer.

Mornin' chicken friends! Cold here today 19F and we'll be lucky if we get out of the 20's. Unexpectedly have the day off work but really cold out. Maybe l'll take care of my dog grooming today they've been a little neglected since the coop frenzy took over. Have a fantastic day all

That's not all the snow we have, that's just the fresh stuff we have on top of the old.

We're not in a drought situation but this area is considered "high desert", we don't get much rain. A big part of our moisture comes in the winter as snow.
