Now I have an important (well, to me. Maybe I'm just too OCD lol) question.... I am starting to get my dad's cold as of yesterday (we were all away this weekend so I guess it finally incubated and I got it?) and now today I have it slightly worse. So far I just have a sore throat and feel kind of blegh but the throat is to the point where it's also slightly mucusey or whatever so when you drink anything, it irritates it and I feel like I can't breathe/am gasping. Till I remember to breathe out of my nose lol I'm more of a mouth breather. I think it's also in my chest somewhat.

ANYWAY.

My question is I have a paper due and a test for my class tonight so now is a REALLY bad time for the cold to decide to incubate and hit me lol

And I am finishing writing the paper now. I know, I know...

So anyway, my question is how do I make my throat stop hurting or make myself feel better for and last long enough for a 3 hour class? It's at 6. I was honestly thinking of just buying a bunch of throat lozenges lol

I've tried tea and honey and it works alright but I can't even really drink that and I'm way overdoing the honey. Maybe I'll try again though, idk. I've also been trying some of that Bragg's apple cider vinegar in water and honey for something else but figured it could help with this, didn't really work though. And I just took that airplane drink stuff. That actually seemed to help me feel a little better overall but my throat is still really bothering me

Anyway, please help. If I obsess over the cold and my throat, which I do need to stop doing anyway, I might not be able to focus as well on the test

The best thing I have ever used on a sore throat is liquid (children's) ibuprofen. Seriously - it burns a little going down, but within a few minutes, it feels like I never had a sore throat at all. I don't know if some gets absorbed directly by the throat tissue or what, but the pills don't work as well - it has to be the liquid. Of course, if you are sensitive to ibuprofen (like my son and my brother), that's out; can't say if other liquid pain relievers will do the job or not.

Talk to your parents. If it were my child who was sick, i would say stay home and we will take you to the doctor.

Thanks everyone!

CF, I probably should have mentioned that even though I do still live at home, I'm 23 and it's a college course (though technically a community college hah) so I don't think I can skip it :( the teacher's kind of strict too and besides, it's just a cold. I actually feel slightly better now that I ate haha but I know it will go away on it's own eventually, just trying to be able to take the test lol but thank you

Michelle, I've done that before with baking soda and it always seems to make it worse but I'll try it again this time. Maybe I'm just not doing it right haha

Bunny, wow I never thought of that. That's a great idea. Thank you!!

Anyone experienced with canning?
I cooked up a couple of small pumpkins and pureed them. Then a friend dropped by. By the time he left it was bedtime. Can I water bath can it now that it's completely cooled off?
Not enough acid in pumpkin so you have to pressure can them.

Cover the pumpkin cubes with the leftover hot cooking liquid, leaving 1-inch of headspace. Add lids and rings and place into your pressure canner. Process quart jars for 90 minutes at 15 pounds pressure. Process pint jars for 55 minutes at 15 pounds pressure.

Morning all, thanks for the coffee. Off to a slow start today.

@KDOGG331 I don't like using it but the Chloseptic spray helps out when I have a sore throat. They also make it in a lozenge form. It numbs the throat.
