That reminds me. A lady in the neighborhood used to have 3 Belgian Sheepdogs. She told me that they started with 2 puppies and when they grew up and had puppies of their own, she couldn't believe it. She (Honestly) didn't know she had bought siblings, girl puppy and boy puppy . :thHow is it possible with the two pups she never noticed once - one was a boy and one was a girl? I'm sure she didn't know about the pup she kept from the litter. I mean dogs aren't chickens. You know at birth what you have. Scary:eek:
Maybe her parents were brother and sister:lau

How is that possible!?

Yeah, fluffy black ones. Great for Nova Scotia, they hate heat. There are also short coated and wire coated varieties, and long haired sables.

That makes sense! And sorry for being such a know it all lol I used to be on a dog blog and some had them and the tervs and of course malinois

Maybe her parents were brother and sister:lau

LOL

I know (?) there is the Black variety - Belgian Sheepdog, Belgian Malinois, Belgian Teruven- I haven't been to shows in centuries it seems.

These are the 4 varieties apparently

Of course Belgian Malinois is the most common, or at least most widely recognized one

I really would love another Pap, but the Shepherd is pretty rough and hubby would faint.

Aw maybe eventually

And at first I thought you meant Papillion lol

Yeah, Pap is short for Papillon, which is what Charlie is. The Shepherd runs him over a lot and wants to play with him.

Ohhh okay! Sorry, wasn't sure, scroll up and saw you bred llasa apsos before so I thought maybe it was another name for them cause it seemed you were talking in past, like you had had one but can't now. Didn't realize you did lol i love paps

The lady probably didn't want to look or didn't know how to tell. We used to get people in the pet stores all the time that could not tell male from female kittens! It is so obvious!

Lol right? One has the parts the other doesn't and is relatively flat?

Well i had one Pap a long time ago before i had kids. He was supposed to be show quality but his testicles never came down so i showed him in obedience. Eventually found him a home. Then about 15 years ago i got a female Pap to show. She never really got enough coat but she had a wonderful temperament and was happy every minute! However, she had a birth defect internally which caused her to pee in her sleep. Spent a mint getting that repaired but i could not breed her. . So the breeder gave me another pup. I wanted a girl but Charlie was too cute so i got him. He never grew enough hair on his ears. Sigh.

Aww sorry you've had such bad luck with the breed! Are problems like that, with health and finding show quality animals, common in the breed or do you think you've just had some really bad luck?
