Well, I would ride my stick horse over (seeing's how that's as close to a horse as I have) but the last time I rode a stick horse was at some grade school Halloween relay races. My costume got tangled up around the stick and I took a nose dive. Nasty accident, the teacher was as grossed out as I was. I stick to driving cars or trucks or golf carts nowadays.
Too bad, horse back riding is fun. But we have no pastures here and DH does not want to spend all the $$$ horses need for maintenance. So i have a Mule instead.

nope. I am a 7th generation Texian.

I came up here after the first kid was born. I wanted to raise the kids in a tiny town, that had a church, and lots of freedom, few people, and bunches of room.

I still love everything about it...except I REALLY need to leave...the lack of light and forever winter and cold is killing me. Unfortunately however, I am married...can't move until spouse dies.

You could always move to WY, maybe even while the spouse is alive. We have plenty of cold but winter only lasts about 5 months and we get some sunshine most every day. Lots of small towns and room too. See, almost the same but different (and closer to TX).

Spouses can hamper things though...mine is the reason I don't live in FL any more. And as goofy as that place is, I still miss things about it.

Well, don't go doing anything drastic!

Yeah, maybe you could move to Wyoming or a similar state. Similar climate but more sun.

Or even maybe just further south in Alaska? I heard some of those areas can be pretty warm.

Why can't you move?

Can't you talk to them about it?

Spouse is adamant. We do not move, unless spouse is dead. End of story. That's it.

I guess I could divorce, but man, not enough money for that. :hu

Anyway, if I moved I would move to a place where I could BAKE myself in the sun! I love 90° heat. When I lived in Texas I hated the 2 months of winter that we had.

I do love the scenery in WY, very pretty, my kind of place. But too cold for me.

As to moving inside the state, 1. we are never again allowed to move. So an in-state move is still a move and not allowed. 2. There isn't a warmer part of Alaska, unless I am happy to give up sunshine. The Southeast of Alaska is warmer but is rainforest cloudy.

I hope we get snow this year. Last winter was dry so the snows we had, melted by the end of the day.

Fingers crossed for one or two good snows this year.

Yep, a good snow cover is needed to keep the plants alive over winter.

That infection still getting better?

Pretty sure @Alaskan is south :) Besides, "pretty warm" is pretty relative! And the dark winters...not much you can do about sunlight unless you move farther south.

I would have the same issues, the lack of sunlight in the winters would get to me for sure.

Feel free to take anything scheduled for the East coast.

'Al' sounds like you need to start working on a long term plan.

well, an old friend is finally getting married. .. I think he is 37ish. He has never been married.

he invited me to the wedding. ..and my parents are paying for me and 2 kids to attend. That will be nice, and a LITTLE bit more light (not much, he is NOT in Texas). But spouse has agreed to let me and a couple kids be gone for a full month. It has been forever since the kids I will take (# 3 and 4) have left this tiny town in which we live.

Anyway, it should be good. Friend's mom is friends with my mom, so my mom is happy to pay and come too.

Look at the next post! He has planned his escape and is taking the kids!

I think it's healing. Less red at least. I'm trying to keep my glass of water on the half wall behind me so I have to stretch my arm up and back to reach it. Trying to keep the muscle from contracting any more. :sick Not fun.

Have fun at the wedding and enjoy seeing some of the rest of the world for a while!
