BYC Café

He had lots of cages, the ones he wanted to sell were too decrepit. But i found 6 that were not too bad and bought the 4 rabbits he had left since they were kind of bad conditions. The family is sick, he has a bad back and daughter left for college, they were hers.
Does that mean you'll need even more cages?

Thank you for rescuing them Cap, and also a very good deed for that family.
I really was going to only take the Lop because that is a breed i have. But i felt bad for them. If i need to i can always get a pet home for them. DH doesn't know that i bought them yet. But he rarely goes in the bunny barn....

Awww glad you rescued them!

Also random question, how much do you think bunnies and a hutch combined would cost?

Because there were some bunnies at the garden center right down the street last summer and they had a sign that was like say hi to our bunnies so I don't think they were for sale but they were in a pretty small hutch and looked horrible. Nails all way over grown and just did not look happy or healthy at all :( and the cages were gross.

I almost called a rescue or took pictures of them to share somewhere but didn't want to start anything.

But if they are still there this year, I seriously might call a rescue OR offer him money for them and take them off their hands. I seriously doubt they care enough about them to turn down cash.

I doubt I could keep them but I hated seeing them like that. :(

It depends on the type of hutch and type, age and sex of rabbits, what they would go for.

That makes sense. It was just like a basic one with wire on the sides and a wooden box end and on legs with a shelf/tray or something for the poop under it. It wasn't very big. And i have no idea what type of bunnies they were. But isn't there like some common price for pet ones? Probably depends on the area too though? Maybe i should look on Craigslist

Yeah, it depends on where you are too. Just about any bunny cage is at least $30.
