On line some garden professional guy said - use upright plastic forks around your plants to keep squirrels and CATS out of them. With my luck the cats will use them as back scratchers.

I've been saving them up and will buy more tomorrow at $$Tree(they have stronger ones)- our weather has been too erratic to even contemplate planting. But I'm hoping my hosta will come up and tired of finding holes in the dirt all around them.

Like the smell of coffee just don't like coffee. Tea is worse, it sends me running for the litter box.

Sorry about the chicks

I may have to get some Cochins or Silkies. Do they go broody annoyingly often? And won't Silkies be picked on by bigger birds?

The Silkies made great parents. they are Chickens. it would be the same as a bantam in your coop. my Bantams have always been at the top of the pecking order in my coop. They do go Broody alot but if you collect eggs daily you will not be overrun.

@KDOGG331 if your cat likes catnip, you could grow some of that for him. DS grows it and brings it to my cats when he visits...they love that!

I used to grow cat nip for Tea. it makes a nice sleepy time tea for humans. UNTIL I happened out one day to find my dog lifting his leg to it. He was letting stray cats know they were not safe to play in his yard.


Your cat is beautiful! and I bet she could use the forks to eat the seedlings
I stopped starting seeds inside cuz my cats think it is a new litter pan .

Up date on first incubation. we are on day 16. There are 4 winners, there were 11 Yolkers and no quitters. I also out of inexperience and poor planning put 3 silkie eggs in 3 days ago. Going to see if I can make it work with the one incubator.

The kittens are keeping me busy!!!! and the coffee in my cup keeps getting cold
I miss free time but even more than that I MISS BYC!
I managed to straighten out the kitties so I may get some more time. They had the runs pretty bad but all I have on hand now is Chicken meds and such. I was not going to save any more kittens. But they are from / for my DD MIL. Any way I mixed up a gallon of electrolyte and vitamin supplement with lacto bacillus. and mixed their formula with that it was better in 24 hours. here are a coupled of pics.

I am calling them Trouble, Gizmo and Rosy The smallest one just reached 4 oz.

What is a yolker? And good for you putting the effort in for those babies. What happened to mama cat, i missed that i guess.

Alot of big cities at Christmas time do a tree pick up after Christmas and then they mulch up the trees and give it away rather than putting them in the city dumps. I know it is a ways off, but that means there is time to look into free mulch for next spring.
