BYC Café

The poor chickies were hot and panting (well only 2 of them) but I gave them grapes, big 1/4 watermelon, and wet kale and collard greens the first day and grapes yesterday along with ice in water. Plus was misting them both days. Yesterday I drenched them figuring they'd dry in the sun but then it got cloudy and rained soon after lol oh well.

I need to get more shade for them.

There is shade in the mornings and affernoons but full sun during the day. And it would appear midday the shade falls right behind the run where they can't get to. So I need to figure out how to make shade inside the run without shading out their favorite dust bathing spots
Shade and fresh water!

Morning Cafe!

Thanks for the cup of Joe, Debby.

Turned the AC on last night for the 1st time this year. I normally keep the house at 80° year round. Got up to 85° inside, George was starting to pant, so time to turn it on

Thunderstorms here today, could be sever, Gee, did this page just shake? Lighting just struck a tree about 100ft away. Getting off of here for a bit. Have a great day, all.

I put tarps over the two ends on my run for my chickens. It really kept them cooler and I had a kiddie pool for their water in the shade from the tarp so it kept the water pretty cool as well. In Alabama the temps go over 100 from July thru Sept. So I also would turn the sprinkler on while it sat on top of the runs for them to cool off in.

Maybe put up a tarp where you want shade?

Shade and fresh water!

All great ideas, thanks! I was thinking possibly shade cloth but idk.

Plenty of fresh water. But gets dirty and hot fast. I gotta go back to the bucket.

You keep it at 80!? I would sweat haha even 60 I get hot. My parents like to keep it between 62 and 68. I like it OFF lol
