I miss my goats, but i plan to get more once the fences are up.Good morning Cafe
Thanks for the coffee, N F C
Baby goats are excellent climbers. Mine use to climb up on anything they could, tractor, cars, ladders, haystacks, bbq pit, and me if I sat on the ground with them.
Their antics will keep you laughing for a long time!![]()
How are you feeling, Tree?Morning cafe thanks for the coffee!
actually my youngest kids... those ones born Sunday.... they are giving their mom no end of grief!
Today I heard mom, Mozzie, calling and calling, in the parking area looking at the house .... So I went and looked out the window... only saw one kid by her.
So I went outside and Mozzie walked to the paddock and started calling at the junk pile (bits of deck and some pallets). And yep... her little boy had been jumping about on the pile and then slipped into a bit of a cave made by the junk, and couldn't get back out.
Luckily a neighbor had stopped by, so he held the baby girl (who wanted to JOIN her brother) While I moved stuff about and got the boy out.
He was all safe and sound.
Mozzie was thrilled to have both babies again.
3 hours later both kids were lost in the pile.
Guess we are moving the pile this weekend.
Well, the very close one is now bellering her fool head off and pawing. There is no way these critters would make it "out there" for birthing. They are very noisy and if I were a predator, I would check out this commotion for sure. I think two were what I would consider pretty quiet. Sheesh.... Coffee brewed.
CVMs and mutts
Alaskan, I know you didn't mean to be funny but, reading about both goatlets getting lost in the pile - cracked me up. Mama needs to set boundaries for them.
well.... I would say baby goats are smarter... they sure do get into more trouble... seriously, LESS than a week old and climbing all over tarnation!
But the new baby girl... for the first 2 days kept trying to nurse SIDEWAYS on the teat, or nurse between mama''s front legsMama, was good, just talked to her and stood nice and still... but I think that one baby girl has fluff for brains ... luckily it only lasted 2 days... she now knows the squirty end of the teat must go in the mouth.
I guess I have had a few chicks that had to be helped learn to eat....
I think adult goats are way smarter than chickens... a lot like a dog in amount of smarts... but a prey not predator species.... So a very different way of seeing the world.
More pictures when you get a chance , please.
I love reading the stories about y'alls goats and sheep babies!
Al it sounds like your momma goat knows how to get your attention! That's awesome.
A set of twin rams to a perfect first-time mom. Phew...
Coffee still hot!
Morning Cafe, the bottomless pot of coffee is ready!
Margie, congrats on the new babes
Al, I agree with you on the "smarts" of kids to chicks. I always figured the more trouble they can get into, the smarter they must be. Have fun moving that pile!
Sour, how did the game go yesterday? Is Jen home now?
