tjo how wonderful of you to take in the two hens. Their previous owners should be doing jail time for neglecting their needs. The ducks seem to be eager to thank you and clear out the fly population.
I agree house chores can wait till cold weather. Months ago my reasoning was the chores could wait till warmer weather. The thing about that is there will always be housework to do and it's patient and will wait until someone 'getsroundtoit.'
I went there for fertilized Silkie eggs, on the way there we got a call I could have a Silkie pair.
When we arrived, the eggs and Silkie pair were all bantam Cochins
. But I saw that poor frizzle and had to take them! I am sure I would have had nightmares if not. On the same trip I saw the prettiest grey Silkie all alone. The wife loves her. And cannot be parted. Poor thing had been attacked by a coon as a chick. However he showed me a beautiful Muscovy pair he no longer wanted And their 2 ducklings! so we packed them up too
this is what I looked like when I told DH about our new additions, and this

he looked like

. So here they are. 3 adult chickens, 2 adult Muscovey, and 2 ducklings. Oh yes that math doesn't match the story. 48 hours after we took home that load we got a call come get the Silkie.
DH
. Off I went again
DD brought me to collect her. She was not all we left with, they managed to find a home for A Muscovy Hen and her 7 chicks at my daughters house, do you think flock math is heritary?
When I got the Silkie home I took her eggs and candled, nothing! So I chucked em. She had been brooding and brooding they said that is how she is happy so they even let her sit her own unfertilized eggs.
. Her feet were not chewed on, it was untreated leg issues at hatch IMO. She is happy not sitting eggs right now and has started laying. She can walk scratch the ground and even dust bathes. I still think she will be a house chicken with outdoor privileges.
.
If this is the first day of summer, and up to now we've had 90's, what comes next?![]()
I hate to be the bearer of bad news DD, but this is what comes next

Good morning cafe. Thanks for the coffee NFC.
I was out watering my freshly transplanted veggies before 6am. They went in shock yesterday and they looked dead.
