BYC Café

Thanks for the perfect coffee! Cold here, 28! DS$ has his first tournament of the fall season tomorrow, assuming he makes weight and doesn't do anything weird to his shoulder today. He has healed up nicely but we were not sure if the tournament was doable, but he felt good after a very hard practice on Wed. One of his teammates, 14 yrs old, was just diagnosed with bone cancer this week. That gave DS$ pause for thought for sure.
The mountain lion that was in the area is apparently hanging out a bit; it snagged my "newbie" neighbor's cat that he let out at 4 dark-thirty. He saw it get jumped and that was it...
So now the kitty likes the hood even better....:rant:mad: :smack Electric fence still holding!
Have a GREAT DAY EVERYONE!

Sounds like a good reason to keep the cats indoors!
Good morning everyone.

Childhood cancer. So sad. Hasn't had a chance to experience life yet. Pray God will see fit to intervene.

And that's unfortunate about the cat but I guess now he knows not to let them out at night. Must have been awful to see it get jumped though. :hit

Although even in an area without many predators, it shouldn't have let it out so late (early?). Luna occasionally goes out during the day (though we try to keep her in mostly now, long fur gets tangled and dirty and she's so small) but is always in at night. There's been a few times where we couldn't find her or forgot and she stayed out all night but most times she is inside. One time before we got her spayed though she accidentally got loose and was gone like 2 or 3 days :hit thankfully she came home perfectly safe though and NOT pregnant somehow. She is a pretty smart cat though. One time when I was walking the dog through our woods I saw the cat and evidently Gator did too and he treed her in one of the pine trees :lau funny now only because she was fine but at the time I was so nervous and kinda mad at Gator. So I walk back to the yard, put him on his rope, and then right when I am trying to figure out how to get her down, I see that cat just waltz across the yard and sit 10 feet from us. Needless to say, I brought her in. But it's a good thing she walked by when she did cause I was ready to grab a ladder or call the fire department :lau

Anyway, Gator was in his younger days and much more energetic and better health. And didn't like the cat much then, evidently. :p

But point being, she is a very smart cat, pretty alert, and knows how to climb trees well, run fast, and hide, so she likely would be fine and she has occasionally hidden under the deck or a bush and camped out there all night or in bad weather, but I just feel better about having her inside at night. And actually, lately, she doesn't stray as far as she used to and she seems to want to come back inside pretty soon too, comes right back to the door. We figure she must have seen something out there at some point that scared her. But it's perfectly fine by me to let her in at night or keep her in totally.

How awful about the cancer!!

Sour if you need to gain weight, I'd be glad to donate some of mine. Just say how much you need and it's yours.
