Mom always said, "Getting old ain't for sissies." At 97 she stood, her hip broke, and then she fell. 3 days later Mom became a memory.
Sorry Sour, my Grandma had Dementia. Kept trying to run away from Aunts house. Once she broke her hip, it was over shortly after that. Sad to see.

Okay, lets not try to terrorize everyone- women especially. I've heard the sermon since I was footloose and fancy free (for about like, half an hour- once).Of women who break a hip, the majority die within a year after. They even came out with some inflatable thingy like a lifejacket - that goes around the hips to help protect them in a fall. So far I've never seen anyone with them.

Sleeping most of the day-ME- there is a lot of bone loss from inactivity. I know but, it's what I do best next to eating ice cream.

PS Ice cream is NOT a good source of calcium. I have 4 calcium citrate pills (with Vit.D)
daily and 16. oz. of skim milk

Well, my mom lived over 20 years after breaking her hip! "Up with the good leg, down with the bad."
Got a cord of firewood delivered out before the really cold wind hits and hauled 8 - 1600lb hay bales. I was a "WIDE LOAD". First time for that and I don't think I smashed any bicyclists coming up the canyons...
ssshhhhh!!!!
We also got our firewood stacked up by the house for this round of chill... and I still need to get my 1/4 beef stuffed into the freezer when it shows up...

Not a very good memory. My mom passed in a similar time frame, in the hospital Thanksgiving Day, passed away on Dec. 1
