History Of Marzipan. Although it is believed to have originated in Persia (present-day Iran) and to have been introduced to Europe through the Turks, there is some dispute between Hungary and Italy over its origin. Marzipan became a specialty of the Baltic Sea region of Germany.
Ingredients

  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 pound finely ground blanched almonds
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Directions
  1. Blend the confectioner's sugar, finely ground almonds, egg whites, salt ,and almond extract in a blender until perfectly blended. Chill covered 24 hours to harden.
You roll them into little fruit shapes and paint them with food coloring. To die for!
