BYC Café

I remember when my son loved the Ninja Turtles, that lasted until he discovered my old office typewriter. He loved whatever it was he did with it. Then we got a third hand computer for him and he really took off.I used to ask him how he could stand working with it for hours. Gee, then I discovered BYC and now I know.

But, I think they called it dial up or something service, it was over the phone line. So nobody got calls. I loved it, rest of family did not. Also very controlling BF hated it. He felt I was stepping out on him. I told him if he was that worried, he could come over and see where I was. Of course he didn't. BTW I wasn't fooling around but BF sure was.

Diva, you are right about the old way to connect to the internet was dial-up service. It was sooooooo slow. I had AOL then. I remember when AOL fixed it, so if you had call waiting, it would alert you, and you could choose to take the call, or it would tell them you were online, to leave a message, and you would get back to them. Wow, you had to pay for a package of upgrades for things like call waiting.

Good morning Cafe.
Coffee is made and there is a fresh loaf of wholemeal from the guys sown the track on the counter.
We used to have the Honey Man come by a few times a year in an old Rover that still had running boards and big chrome headlamps. Used to have a coal man as well and a milk man. My mother brought an Electrolux vacuum cleaner with her from the US. It was built like a tank with metal extension tubes and a cloth dust collecting bag.

Shad when I was a very young child - we had a tiny house in Chicago. I know we had a coal man and we had a milk man (Hunding Dairy) and a rag peddler had a horse drawn wagon. Really cool. Think that was the end of the horse drawn wagons though. Streetcars gave way to buses that didn't need a track and electricity to operate.

Certain areas of Chicago have elevated trains - called EL's. Routes could be above ground and below ground. Thrilling for a kid but, sometimes the El trains jumped the tracks - NOT funny or good at all. Chicago still has them.
