Hi IM did Igor have a good time at the dog park, or do the humans just sit around and watch? Never went to one, no dog.

He enjoys going. He usually takes his camera and we're friendly with other dog owners. Today was a different story.

Frank had to defend himself against a female boxer. Fortunately the owner knows it was her dog that started it. Ken (igor) broke things up and others stepped in to help. I'm happy that Frankie has the drive to defend himself, we were concerned about that. Frank has no injuries and the boxers were minor so all is well. Thankful that my boys are alright.

I never thought of the meal delivery plans as a way of learning how to cook...that was a good intro to it for him.

Yes he even tried broccoli again and liked it!

Abscessed tooth which I already have under control, but dog needs some dental work. Initial visit $200 +. Dread what the bill for cleaning/extraction will be.

I'm dealing with this too Sour, I just already know the cost :th

Yes, we do. We don't have near enough land or energy to harvest wood ourselves.
We pay $170 a full cord, cut, split and delivered.
Yup, you need a lot of trees.
The main house here burns 7 to 8 metric tonnes each winter! It's not even warm in there.
That from what I'm estimating from the pictures is at least 12 cords, probably more.
My little underground house burnt just over half a ton last winter, one third of a cord.
Currntly the temperature in the living area is 23 degrees centigrade and the bedroom where a window is open is 19.5 degrees centigrade.:)

Erm, how much is a cord in kilos.?:)
I can't find a conversion for it.
A cord is a volume measurement here in the US. It measures 8 foot x 4 foot x 4 foot in a tight stack. So if you get a good hardwood, it will obviously weigh more.
We typically get birch, maple and oak mix. We also have a pallet manufacturer about 5 miles from us that sells 4'x4'x3' crates filled with hardwood scrap for $10. It is kiln dried oak. Great for stuffing between the cord wood. I only fill the stove twice a day.

Ah, okay, it's hardwood. Mostly here it's an evergreen oak called Holm Oak. It grows all over the lower slopes of the mountain.

The public areas of our house where the stove sits usually run about 23 to 24 C. I like my bedroom cooler and it runs about 19 - 19.5 C.
Last year was much colder than this year has been so far and we burned about 1.5 cords total between the cord wood and pallet scrap.
When we bought this house, we tore it to the studs, added 2x2 furring to build out the wall cavities, covered with a breathable membrane and did dense packed blown in cellulose. The house was made very tight during the renovation. We also installed a pair of Lunos whole house fans to introduce fresh air.
The house is very cozy and draft free. I just need to finish the darn thing! I'm sick of living in a construction site.

Shad is your underground house a basement under the main house or a separate structure?

Hi Sour,
How big is your dog?
I scale and brush all my dogs teeth. When I adopted my Dad's dog, he needed a dental to get his teeth cleaned but I've since trained him to let me scale them. I try to scale all the dogs 1x month and brush at least three times a week.
Ben has never had a dental and the vet always comments how nice his teeth look. Of course I can fit both hands and a foot into his yawing pie hole.
It's harder to scale in a small dogs mouth but I still manage to get the 9 pound min pin done.
Maybe something you could try?
