I've heard some geese are good for that too!

A friend of mine in FL had a couple of guard donkeys. She said things could get past the dogs that the donkeys would immediately pick up on.
Geese are great for an alarm warning...nothing gets past their attention.

Pretty girl. I had a Fawn, Harlequin, and Blue
All at the same time?!! Holy cow! Where did you sit down? I would love to have another Dane, but fear that I would be making unfair comparisons for the new dog. I don't think any dog would measure up to her. She had sooo much personality! She would bark at me if I told her she was a B word!! Even tho' it was true!

All tired out from a long day of doing... NOTHING!!
They did not help shovel the snow, tend to the chickens or prepare food. All they did was eat, sleep and pee. Loafers.
We are down to 8 degrees and dropping. Brrrr!

Yep, had 4 dogs at that time. The Danes were outside dogs until the temp got down to 40°F then they came inside. The other was a Weimer, inside dog.

My neighbor has a gorgeous female Weimer that gets to do NOTHING!!! She is a big long legged typey dog that should be out running birds, instead she is kept in a small yard. Her only stimulation is trying to dig under the fence after my chickens,,(and getting sprayed in the face with the hose-pipe when she tries.

Aw poor thing :( even if she wasn’t out running birds, she should still be getting SOME form of exercise or stimulation, running or training or something. Poor thing. :(

Nope, they don't pay any attention to her or the purebred Chocolate Lab. Both are at least altered, so they don't have reproductive urges to deal with.
