Meyer’s minimum is actually only 3! That’s one of the reason I like them is that they don’t have the 15 or 25 minimums most other hatcheries have and no small order charges (though their prices are a little bit higher). Plus they are the closet hatchery to me; they’re in Ohio. But their minimum of 3 starts in April and goes through November and then from December through March their minimum is only 8. It used to be 15 from December through March but they recently lowered it to 8. And when it’s cold they usually include a heat pack for free.

Oh yeah, I saw that you were talking about the Wyandotte but was just making comparisons to my one bully hen that I have, kind of as a reason why I didn’t get a Wyandotte. Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you!! I sure hope so!! And I was going to add the Meal Maker and I did last time but I didn’t wanna add too many LOL
Oh, no worries! Sorry I got confused ... and thanks for the tips.. I did not know that about the order.. that could be trouble for me:D

Congratulations on making your choices! Nice mix. I think you'll be pleased.
I can now confess that I actually ordered 16 chicks as I got the Meal Maker too!
Congratulations! It sounds like a lot of people are starting to get their spring chick orders in.

Hi guys. Hope you don't mind if I sit here a bit. :)

Why not at all!
I think KDDOGG left some hot chocolate and a bag of mine marshmallows. The coffee is likely gone though.

No, no, it’s okay! It was entirely my fault for the confusion! Started rambling about an entirely different breed lol and you are very welcome! Have fun! :D :lau :hide

It is definitely trouble! LOL first flock I got 9 (8 plus the free chick, Meyer Meal Maker), one sadly died at 6 days old, entirely my fault not Meyer’s, the others thrived and are still thriving at 3 years old except for one who got taken by a hawk fall 2017. Great birds and layers. And then this current order is 5 and I did not add the free chick this time. But both of my orders have been small orders under 15, under 10 even, and it is awesome! I can get whatever breeds I want and not have minimums or have to get 3 of each breed or 25 total or anything like that! I love it! Lol

Thanks! And it sure seems like it! I got mine in just in time, there were less than 100 Speckled Sussex for that date, only like 80 something. The other breeds are available a lot sooner but I really wanted Speckled Sussex so I don’t mind the April date, wanted them in April anyway cause we are going to AZ in March.

And of course we don’t mind Banty! Welcome! Nice to see you in a different thread lol

Yup! There is still plenty! There is also key lime pie if anybody wants it and if anybody is really hungry, there is also ziti with meatballs and I think there may even be a piece or two of garlic bread left if you look for it.

Thanks—hot chocolate sounds perfect. Coffee's best in the morning anyway.

Very true! Though I don’t even drink it lol

Though, speaking of coffee, I saw the perfect ad for this thread :lau

I figured I'd poke my nose outside my comfort zone, lol. I keep meaning to try SS and forgetting, running out of space, or both.

BC, I hopped over to your page a read your article on cockerels. Great stuff. I'll leave you a review later.
I don't yet have the time to spend observing my flock to the extent you and Shad do. You both have taught me lots with your keen observations and we'll written articles. Thank you.

I'm glad you liked it. :) Shad's got me well beat in the observation department, but I have fun with what I do in the time I have.
