Sorry, had an emergency! My golden buff hen hung herself by the toe on the deck chair! Broke the hell out of it. Had to rescue her from upside down, soak in Epsom salts and blue Cote it. Then the splint...she favors it and is holding wings out from her body slightly. But back to foraging,etc. Thinking I need to keep her inside in a padded cage for tonite.

Anyhoo. We have 3 RIRs, 2 Golden Buffs (sex link) a Dominique and an Andalusian.

Oh my! I'm glad she's okay. I had a Leghorn do that on the feedbox once. Thankfully, I was in there at the time.

She's leaving it alone, but I dont think she can perch on the roost, and doubtful as to whether the other chickens will leave it alone.

It sounds like you've got it sorted. A night or two away from the rable getting spoiled won't hurt.
I've got one of those plastic pet carriers for those that are too sick to be out and about.
Works very well with some towels for lining.
You know, despite what I've read of other peoples experience the chickens here don't tend to pick on the injured. I've been really surprised. They do pick on the sick though.
The injured tend to stay out of the way. I've had to make sure they get proper rations when they're out though.

I name mine whatever word tends to come out of my mouth the most when I'm near them. That's lead to one cockerel gaining the name King Dummypants. (He slept outside. On the ground. Repeatedly.)

Mine are so basic lol I have 1 Barred Rock, 2 Black Australorps, 2 Buff Orpingtons (used to be 3), and 2 Easter Eggers. You can guess what their names are

The Barred Rock is named May (short for Mayflower cause... Plymouth Rock ), the Australorps are Blackie and Beauty (like Black Beauty the horse cause I’m also a big horse fan and they’re also all black ), the Buff Orpingtons are Angel and Amber and the other one was Penny, she got taken by a hawk a little over a year ago, and then the Easter Eggers are.... Bunny and Diva. I have no idea why I decided to name the other Orpington a non color related name cause I had 3 color related names picked out which the others ended up with 2 of them but somehow she just ended up being different lol then Diva only got a unique name cause one day she was laying in the run sunbathing as a 7 or 8 week old chick and so were the others but they all eventually got up, one by one, but she was still laying there, sprawled out, legs out, in front of the run door, for forever, getting in her spa day, and the only reason she eventually moved was finally her sister literally ran over her like “wake up sis!” so she got the name Diva because... well.... she was being a diva but even that isn’t that unique lol
